Glamorous Looks for Evening Hair in the 1940s and 1950s

"Tonight," the retro ad advised, "Go where The Glamour is..." And then it showed the pictures of over 40 famous women from the Old Hollywood era, all dressed up. Or should we say, "all tressed up"?

It was a Lustre-Creme ad, heralding the fact four out of five leading Hollywood ladies choose their shampoo. These women included: Ava Garner; Deborah Kerr; Dorothy Lamour; Marilyn Monroe; Maureen O'Hara; Jane Russell; and Susan Hayward, among many others.

You may see some of these best formal celebrity hairstyles above. The ad appears to be from about 1953 or 1954, based on the movie titles. Some of the pictures, however, may be from the late 1940s.
